JOURNEY BEGINS

Embarking on your journey after discovering your illness can feel overwhelming as you navigate through the unknown, searching for the best approach. It's easy to overcomplicate things when you're unsure where to begin. Dealing with thinning hair is a serious matter, as hair is often seen as a woman's crowning glory. The onset of hair loss can lead to feelings of self-consciousness. When hiding behind your hair is no longer an option, what's the next step? Consider options like buying a wig, shaving your head, or seeking advice from someone who has personally dealt with this issue and can offer guidance on optimizing hair growth.

Below are the initial steps and questions you should address:

1. Start by consulting your doctor and checking your blood.

2. Evaluate your diet and consider what you're consuming.

3. Reflect on any recent changes in your life.

4. Determine what measures you're willing to take to promote a positive change in your situation.

EATING FOR HEALTH

During my younger years, I ignored my celiac condition, leading to being underweight, unhealthy, and constantly fatigued. Experiencing severe symptoms like hair loss, rashes, and stomach pains made me realize I couldn't continue living like that.

In search of a natural healing method, I embarked on a gluten-free journey. Fortunately, having a client who was also celiac provided me with valuable insights. She recommended a three-part approach to kickstart my gluten-free lifestyle:

• Conduct thorough research to uncover hidden sources of gluten

• Make gradual changes to your diet and beverage choices

• Substitute ingredients progressively

Transitioning to a gluten-free diet is non-negotiable for individuals with celiac disease. Although it represents a significant lifestyle adjustment, it's crucial for well-being. Corn flour and rice flour, versatile ingredients, become your allies in this new journey

. Building nutrients plays a vital role in maintaining healthy hair. Once you establish a nourishing diet, you'll notice improvements in your hair's health.

Friendly Foods

Spinach

Spinach is loaded with folate, iron, and vitamins A and C, which may promote hair growth. Vitamin A helps the skin glands produce sebum. This oily substance helps moisturise the scalp to keep hair healthy. A deficiency in these nutrients may result in hair loss.

Oily Fish

Fatty fish like salmon, herring and mackerel have nutrients that may promote hair growth.

They are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been linked to hair growth and improved density.

Eggs

Eggs are a great source of protein and biotin, two nutrients that may promote hair growth. Eating adequate protein is important for hair growth because hair follicles are made of mostly protein. Biotin is essential for the production of a hair protein called keratin, which is why biotin supplements are often marketed for hair growth

Berries

Berries are loaded with beneficial compounds and vitamins that may promote hair growth.

This includes vitamin C, which has strong antioxidant properties. Antioxidants can help protect hair follicles against damage from harmful molecules called free radicals.

The body uses vitamin C to produce collagen, a protein that helps strengthen hair to prevent it from becoming brittle and breaking

Nuts

Nuts are tasty, convenient and contain a variety of nutrients that may promote hair growth. What’s more, they also provide a wide variety of B vitamins, zinc and essential fatty acids. A deficiency in any of these nutrients has been linked to hair loss.
